Europeans will drink quality water only if rules on contact materials and products are harmonised
23/05/2017

CECED supports the call of the European Drinking Water to the European Commission and policy makers to ensure that safety of contact materials and products rules are regulated and harmonised at European level. The home appliance sector considers that the currently revised Drinking Water Directive (DWD) under the Commission's Regulatory Fitness and Performance (REFIT) programme have to take into account the requirements for materials and products in contact with drinking water.
This was also the key message of the 3rd Symposium on Materials and Products in Contact with Drinking Water, held in Brussels on 18th May. The event hosted over 130 EU representatives, national regulators and industry stakeholders, and was organised by the European Drinking Water Industrial Alliance, Plastics Europe, the Copper Alliance and EurEau.
For more information on the symposium, please read the European Drinking Water’s press release.
