Within CECED, international trade issues are addressed by the Trade Working Group. The Trade Working Group focuses on the economic policy affairs of the European household appliance manufacturers with respect to foreign trade. The overarching objective of the group is to advocate for a balanced and fair international trade environment.
More specifically, the group advocates for fair customs related costs for the household appliance sector; classification of final product and components; duty suspensions or quotas imposed on components for manufacturing in the EU; facilitation of customs procedure (AEO programmes, first sale for exports, etc.); advocating for a level playing field within the framework of global trade: contrast imposition of safeguards measures in key exports markets (Ukraine, Turkey, etc.); increase market access/remove Technical Barriers; advocating for equal and fair treatment in public procurement tenders in export markets.
