The Smart Energy Demand Coalition (SEDC) is a not-for-profit industry group created in 2011.

Its mission is to promote the participation of demand side response in the EU electricity markets, ensuring that consumers can actively engage on par with the traditional supply side and get benefits out of their participation.

Demand side participation is essential to:

• increasing energy efficiency
• increasing security of supply
• optimising and improving the grid efficiency
• reducing CO2 emissions 
• achieving renewable energy integration
• contributing to the innovation economy and creating cleantech jobs
