Recycling Standards

In 2013, the Commission requested the European Standardization Organisations to develop European standards for the treatment of WEEE. CECED has been actively participating in the CEN/CENELEC working groups that has been drafting the set of standards related to Article 8 of the new WEEE Directive. 

  • EN 50574 on the collection, logistics & treatment requirements for end-of-life household appliances containing volatile fluorocarbons or volatile hydrocarbons. Published 2012
  • EN 50625-1 on Collection, logistics & treatment requirements for WEEE - Part 1: General treatment requirements. Published March 2014
  • EN 50614 on Requirements for the preparation for re-use of waste electrical and electronic equipment. In preparation with work starting in March 2014 and due to be completed December 2015.
