The ecodesign regulation for fans driven by a motor with an electric input power between 125 W and 500 kW was published in March 2011. The first requirements entered into force in April 2011
In April 2014, the Commission launched a preparatory study in view of the revision of the ecodesign regulation. The Commission has requested the consultancy VHK to undertake the preparatory study. The study was finished in March 2015 and in April 2015, the Commission released a first draft proposal.
