Motors

In 2009 the Commission published an ecodesign Regulation on requirements for electric motors. This Regulation primarily covers motors with a rated output power between 0,75 kw and 375 kW. The first requirements entered into force in June 2011.

In 2012, the Commission ordered a study to be done on the ecodesign potential for motors outside of this scope. This study was done by the University of Coimbra. Following the results, the European Commission is currently preparing a new measure. A first draft of this possible future regulation for motors and drives has been released (see below).
